THE EXPERIENCE

Stretch the team a little. Respect every person.

Begin with what the team needs to do differently. A newly formed group needs a different experience from a seasoned leadership team or a conference audience meeting across locations.

Stretch is shared, structured and playful. It does not depend on humiliation, physical risk or forcing someone into a role that crosses their boundaries. Offer different ways to contribute and adjust when participation drops.

THOUGHTFUL DESIGN. CONFIDENT DELIVERY.

An approach shaped around your audience.

01

Make the team interdependent

Distribute information, introduce a useful constraint or give participants complementary roles. The design should make sharing ideas and coordinating the work necessary, rather than leaving one confident person to carry the task.

02

Debrief and connect to work

Ask what surprised the group, whose contribution changed the approach and what they would do differently. A shared experience becomes more useful when the reflection gives the team a reference point for its next real challenge.
